Sam Houston State’s Oramas Tabbed Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State’s Jenniffer Oramas is the Southland Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.Oramas rounded out an impressive opening week of play, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds to lead the Bearkats (2-0) to a pair of wins. The senior shot 40.7% from the field and notched a game-high 19 points in the season opener against Howard Payne. Sam Houston State is back in action Thursday on the road against Texas Tech at 6 p.m. CT.Women’s Basketball Player of the Week – Jenniffer Oramas, Sam Houston State – Sr. – Guard – Pembroke Pines, Fla.Oramas turned in a stellar opening week to push the Bearkats to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2011-12 season. The senior guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in wins over Howard Payne and Louisiana. She led all players with 19 points in the season-opening win over HPU, adding in six assists and four steals.Oramas then followed up with 37 key minutes against a talented Ragin’ Cajuns squad, hitting critical free throws down the stretch to help ward off UL.
