Cater’s 15 strikeouts, O’Hara’s 3 RBIs lead Syracuse to 3-0 win over Towson

first_img Published on March 15, 2015 at 3:07 pm Comments Jocelyn Cater once again dominated on the mound for Syracuse (12-14, 0-3 Atlantic Coast) in a 3-0 win over Towson (9-5) to finish off the USF Michele Smith Tournament with a victory in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday. Syracuse went 3-2 on the weekend, finishing with three straight wins.Cater threw her ninth complete game of the season, allowing only two hits and striking out 15. The game marked her eighth win of the season and second shutout of her career.Towson’s best chance came in the first inning with runners on first and second and only one out. Cater bore down and managed to strike out the next two Towson batters to end the inning. Of the first six outs Cater recorded, all six were strikeouts.Syracuse was led at the plate by Sydney O’Hara, who had all three of SU’s RBIs. In the second inning, O’Hara hit a two-run home run off of Towson’s Missy McCormick and followed the homer up in her next at bat with an RBI single to center field. Syracuse plays three games against Boston College (14-11, 0-4 ACC) next weekend as it resumes conference play.
