  • In the first six months, passenger traffic in seaports and airports increased

    first_imgOf the total number of passengers in seaports, more than 5% or 500 thousand were disembarked from cruise ships and, among others, visited the ports of Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Korcula, Hvar, Rijeka and Sibenik. Compared to the same period in 2018, these passengers increased by 13,7%. More than 9 million passengers were embarked and disembarked in Croatian seaports in the second quarter of 2019, which is the highest in the last five years. Compared to the same period in 2018, this is an increase of 4,4%, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). In the first half of 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, the total number of ships arriving in seaports increased by 2,0%, the total passenger traffic by 4,6%, and the total traffic of goods decreased by 0,7%. The largest passenger traffic was realized by Split Airport with 510 thousand passengers (increase of 8,2% compared to June 2018), followed by Dubrovnik Airport with 414 thousand passengers (increase of 14,1% compared to June 2018) and Zagreb Airport with 333 thousand passengers (an increase of 0,7% compared to June 2018). In June 2019, Croatian airports recorded 1 thousand passengers or 556% more than in the same month last year. In the first half of 2019. compared to 2018, the total number of landings and take-offs of aircraft at airports increased by 7,8%, total passenger traffic by 10,6%, while total cargo traffic decreased by 3,4%. The number of passengers on ferries and passenger ships in the second quarter of 2019 amounted to 8,8 million passengers, which is 3,9% more than in the same period in 2018. The number of passengers increased in ports with significant passenger traffic such as Split, Dubrovnik , Zadar and Korcula. 8,4% fewer cars and 6,2% more buses were loaded and unloaded on ships compared to the same quarter of 2018.
